Inclusion of Acute Food Insecurity in the CFS: A Call for Action, advocates for stronger recognition of acute food insecurity within the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) agenda.

It argues that acute food insecurity must be treated as a central global policy priority, particularly given its growing impact in conflict-affected and fragile contexts. The paper highlights the need for more coordinated and urgent action to address immediate hunger crises, while also strengthening longer-term food system resilience.

A key message is that current global governance frameworks do not sufficiently prioritise acute food insecurity, despite its severe consequences for vulnerable populations, especially pregnant women and young children. The document calls for improved integration of humanitarian and development responses, as well as stronger accountability within global food governance structures.

It urges the CFS to take a more proactive role in addressing acute food insecurity and ensuring it remains a visible and urgent issue within international food systems discussions.
